Believing In Your Psychic Self

Believing In Your Psychic Self

It’s been a busy couple of weeks around here. Last week, I launched a new ebook, “Practical Guide to Connecting With Your Spirit Guides In Your Dreams.” I spent the majority of last week visiting my mom on the gulf coast and I was able to knock out yet another ebook, my Karmic Dreaming Guide on tapping into your past lives using your dreams. And, on top of everything else, my online dream interpretation course launched today!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far. This little blog is evolving into something so much more than what it began as, and I couldn’t have done it without you. I hope you’ll all continue to lend me your support as it grows and help me create something truly amazing!

Question from a reader:

“I have asked you this already when I was wondering how to know when was your mind talking and when your intuition. I finally discovered that I can be receiving a lot of information, but I could be blocking it. My issue is that whenever an image appears in my mind, I feel that I’m inventing or like day dreaming. When I receive information about somebody else I think that I’m only judging that person. It is like I don’t trust myself, I tell myself that everything that comes to me are things made up by me. How can I start believing that what I feel is actually information from them?”

Arusting yourself and the information you’re receiving is one of the hardest things to do when you’re developing your intuitive abilities. That being said, I think your skepticism is a really great sign. Discernment is very important when it comes to these things, and I’d be a lot more worried if you weren’t questioning anything at all!

I think the best advice I can give you here is something that I talked about in my previous blog series on how to contact your spirit guides. It’s easy for us to get so wrapped up in judging ourselves and whether or not we’re right or wrong and that puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on you to make a snap decision about the information you’re receiving.

Instead of feeling as though you need to judge yourself one way or the other, just hold it as a possibility. When you just hold it as a possibility, you’re able to say, “Alright. Let’s just see where this goes.” and there’s no cognitive dissonance associated if it doesn’t pan out, and you don’t run the risk of being gullible. Just roll with it!

Eventually, you will start to collect enough evidence to support when you were correct and it will build your confidence. Not worrying about whether you’re right or wrong allows you to focus on the process itself, observe what it feels like and you’ll begin to learn what feels like intuition and what doesn’t.

Removing your ego from the process is the hardest part, but having a healthy dose of skepticism is a great foundation for discernment.

How to Hear Your Spirit Guides

How to Hear Your Spirit Guides

Question from a reader:

“How do I listen to my guides? I know they are there…I feel them & I see synchronicity. So how do I listen?”

At would seem to me that you are listening. Feeling them and seeing synchronicity is a way of receiving communication. Don’t limit yourself by believing that the only way you can hear your guides is the same way you hear another person talking to you.

This situation reminds me of a passage from Conversations with God where God states that speaking directly to you in a human language is the absolute last resort and, additionally, the most limiting way that God can speak to you. God goes on to talk about how it talks to you every day, in a multitude of forms, if only you would listen. And by “listen”, it doesn’t mean with your ears. It means listen with your heart.

You don’t need to hear your guides clairaudiently to be able to receive messages from them. They communicate with you through synchronicity, through feelings, through those seemingly random conversations you have with yourself in your head while you’re driving, in your dreams, the incredibly well-timed phrase on the television that caught your attention or the line in the book you’re reading that made you stop in your tracks. They speak to you in symbolism and it’s all around you, every day.

All you need to do to listen is open your mind, remove expectation, and receive.

As I mentioned, dreaming is an excellent way to communicate with your guides, and on May 22nd, I’ll be launching my online dream interpretation course to teach you how to induce dreaming, increase dream recall, dream with intention and decipher your own dream symbolism. You can learn more about it here: Destination Dreamspace

How To Recognize Communication From Your Spirit Guides

How To Recognize Communication From Your Spirit Guides

Question from a reader:

“How can I tell the difference between my guides or intuition and my mind? Sometimes I’m thinking and it appears as a thought, but I cannot recognize when it is me and when it is them.”

I touched on a similar question last summer.

When you have a train of thought, you are actively participating in that process. You are thinking about something, which may trigger another throught and then another, but there is a very logical process of association happening between those thoughts.

When you have a thought that drops in completely out of nowhere that doesn’t follow anything you were just thinking or it is in direct response to what you were thinking and addresses you as though it’s coming from someone else, that’s when you know that it’s message. These types of messages often occur when you’re listening, not thinking, or even when you’re not even paying any attention at all.

When I have those kinds of thoughts that are sort of injected into my consciousness, I know they’re not me because they aren’t talking in the first person, they’re talking TO me.

Additionally, clairaudient phrases tend to come in short phrases, not full on conversations. I describe what this is like in my previous post, “How Being Psychic Works.”

Those types of communications are few and far between. It’s not something that occurs every day. If I do have an actual conversation with a guide, that tends to come more in the form of an information download. This is a really hard thing to describe, but I’ll try.

Have you ever wanted to explain a concept to someone, but you couldn’t think of the right word or words? You knew it, in your head, you just couldn’t verbalize it? That proves to us that our thoughts exist separately from language. As such, thought can be transferred to us in a non-linguistic form. In that sense, it’s more of a “knowing.” That’s what we mean when we say that information comes as a download. It’s an abstract concept with no words attached.

This is also what we mean when we talk about information being filtered. Language is inherently limiting, and the minute we attempt to use to to convey a concept, the original concept becomes diluted, like a game of telephone.

Most likely, though, your guides will use other types of communication that are easier for you to discern – synchronicity and dreams being the two most common.

What Clairaudience Is Like

What Clairaudience Is Like

Question from a reader:

“How do you know if it’s your loved one talking to you, or your subconscious?”

I would say the easiest way to discern between your mind and true clairaudience is the way the communication sounds.

In a previous blog post about what it’s like to be psychic, I explained how clairaudience manifests for the vast majority of people.

You can hear spirits’ voices if you are clairaudient, although most clairaudience comes in words and phrases, not usually full on sentences. It’s not like talking to someone on the phone.

Typically if you DO hear voices, they are not external (external clairaudience is pretty rare), they are typically in your head and many times can sound like your own voice, or one that is gender-neutral. If you’ve ever heard what spirit voices sound like on a spirit box or in EVPs – a lot of times they sound like that in my head, depending on who is doing the talking.

If you’re having full back and forth conversations, you’re most likely just chatting with yourself 🙂 But if you hear words and phrases come out of thin air that are completely outside of your current train of thought, you can be sure that it’s not coming from you.

How My Tarot Cards Chose Me

How My Tarot Cards Chose Me

I had a dream last night that I was buying the new Animal Spirit oracle deck from The Wild Unknown. I vaguely recall that in the dream that I was buying it because I dreamed I was supposed to buy it. It was 50% off and would only cost me $30 by using the code “HAPPYNEWYEAR.”

When I woke up at 1AM, I took this as a sign that I was supposed to be working with this deck in 2017. It’s funny how certain decks choose you, rather than the other way around. I purchased it just this morning.

The Wild Unknown Tarot is also the tarot deck that I work with and  it also chose me in a similar, synchronicitious fashion. Once it caught my attention, I told a friend that I was thinking of buying it. She said,”Well if it’s meant to be, you’ll find $60 (what the deck cost) to buy it with.” A couple of hours later, I checked the mail and one of my clients had sent me a payment for exactly $60.

That was when my journey with Tarot really began.

Fuck it. I choose love.

Fuck it. I choose love.

If you’ve been around my blog for the last year, you’ve probably noticed a lot of changes. I redesigned the entire thing, then I redesigned my homepage, like, four times, the most recent of which I just launched last night. Check it out if you haven’t already!

I had a reading with my friend Jenn early last week and she suggested that I make my healing practice/readings the main focus of my website instead of just my blog, and I thought it was a good suggestion. So that’s what I did! I’ve still got a few things I want to tighten up here and there and a few things to add when they’re ready to launch, but the general look, feel and flow is all here.

I feel like I have SO MUCH creativity right now – so many ideas floating through my head. So much to do! So much I want to do! It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed, but in a good way. Every time I check something off my to-do list, I end up adding something else. As my husband said, “Well, you’ll never be bored.” True that. Long story short – look for lots of fun things to come! I’ll make announcements as they come closer to fruition.

As I revamp my site, I’m also going back through all of my old quotes and graphics and slowly updating them to match the new aesthetic. While I was doing that, I ran across something I wrote a few years back that was a direct message from my guides – one guide in particular, who is very stern, matter of fact, and doesn’t have much of a sense of humor. He’s a no-nonsense kind of guy, I call him the mountain because he appeared to me in a dream as a giant talking mountain and told me that he’d be stepping in as my primary guide:

Humanity has lived in fear long enough. It’s time to shift the paradigm and understand that the things in the world around you only have power over you if you let them. Being afraid of these things is putting yourself in agreement with powerlessness. There is nothing to fear. Love is the greatest power there is and that is within you, always, even when you refuse to acknowledge it. The way to let go of fear and take your power back is to begin to understand the way you are creating and participating in your experiences. It means taking on responsibility for your thoughts and feelings and how that energy plays a part in your every day life. An important part of this is dispelling common myths and misunderstandings that no longer fit within the new paradigm.

The “new paradigm” he is speaking of is the shift, ascension, conscious evolution, etc. He’s talking about moving away from dualistic, superstitious and fear-based beliefs such as:

– The belief that ouija boards are somehow inherently evil

The belief that there is something out there separate from you that you need protection from

The belief that a negative entity can attack or possess you without your permission

– Any other duality-based belief that suggests that the universe contains anything other than pure, unconditional, unadulterated love, particularly any beliefs you hold about yourself or others.

Holding onto such fear-based beliefs is counterproductive to your ability to see love in all things. It is also counterproductive to your ability to move into a state of love and anchor that energy down here to earth.

What you have to realize during this process is that you are making an active choice to believe in such things – and you are making an active choice to live in fear of these things, and you are actively choosing to give your power away to those things through your belief in them.

The biggest rebuttle I often see to that point is, “Well I have EXPERIENCED this or I know someone who has, so you can’t tell me it’s not real.” I never said it wasn’t real – it’s very real, in your own inner-environment. And it’s partly real because you believe in it and are creating it and it’s partly real because you are CHOOSING to view that experience through a lens of fear, instead of viewing it neutrally. And the fear you felt in that moment very much played into creating the experience.

Belief creates reality, and if the reality that you wish to create involves these things, then your belief in them will allow them to exist.

As long as you refuse to accept that you are a creator of your experiences, you are actively choosing powerlessness.

If you wish to create a reality without those things, you can do so just as easily (and dare I say, it may be a somewhat more enjoyable reality).

At some point, you just have to say, “Fuck it. I’m tired of being afraid. I choose love.”
