Psychic Interview with Slade Roberson

Jul 3, 2017 | Psychic Stuff, Spirit

My moving pod is on it’s way to my new apartment. It’s hard to believe that in a little over a week, I’ll be on the east coast. I’ve never lived outside of Missouri. It’s going to be a total culture shock. In just about every way, I have no idea what life looks like beyond mid-July. You might say that’s a fantastic thing – a total blank slate, oozing with creative potential. A blank canvass on which I get to paint the next chapter in the story of my life.

I want things to be different this time. I recognize how when I was at this juncture 11 years ago, I allowed life to happen to me. This time around, I have the awareness to be the creator. It’s a bit scary to realize you’re 100% responsible for what’s going to happen next. I don’t know if I’d say I feel ready… but I’m going to meet the challenge head-on, regardless.

Since it’s the first Monday of the month, you’re probably expecting a new interview introducing you to another psychic friend of mine. You won’t be disappointed! Today I’m talking with one of my favorite spiritual bloggers out of Chattanooga, Tennessee (you can find a link to his blog on my recommended bloggers page), Slade Roberson of Shift your Spirits.

I came across Slade’s blog rather fortuitously back in 2012. I was bored at work and asked my guides to bring me some spiritual reading material, and as you know, I’m pretty picky about what I like. Through a random google search, I found Shift Your Spirits and have been a subscriber ever since!

Interview with Slade Roberson

Professional Intuitive, Podcaster, and author of the blog “Shift Your Spirits”

How long have you been practicing psychic readings?

Professionally, since 2006. But when I was a teenager, instead of mowing lawns for extra money, I prepared astrological charts for my mother’s friends.

When did you first realize you had psychic abilities?

I saw an angel when I was five. I’ve heard voices and strains of music for as long as I can remember.

What are your clairs?

A little bit of all of them, but my primary channel is clairaudient (claircognizant).

How do you experience each clair?

I see, hear and know bits of information in the form of language, depending on where it’s coming from. I may see a word like a neon sign, or I may hear/know something in a fully formed sentence, which I call “shining sentences.”

When speaking live to someone, I channel information verbally, which sounds (to me) like I’m hyper-communicating or rambling. My clairvoyance, interestingly, is like watching close-circuit security footage with the sound muted. You’d think we could put those tracks together! ūüėČ

What type of readings do you do?

I don’t advertise a particularly type of reading; I leave it up to my client to define the question or issue. Having said that, 99% of the people who request readings from me have questions about life purpose, career path, entrepreneurship, or which course of study to choose as a college major.

Tools or no tools?

No tools, really. I can type really fast and talk even faster. My readings are conversational. It’s like having a chat with the manic, eccentric, New Age friend you can tell anything to. I use automatic writing + a live phone call. I usually look at someone’s astrological chart to see their Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. It just gives me some shorthand about the elements they’re working with.

What’s your process like for doing psychic readings? How does information come to you?

I usually get a flash of information from the moment I see an email from a potential client. I will open an Evernote note on whatever device is handy and start a list of these nuggets of info. When I get a subsequent question or issue from the client (again, in a follow up email), I start to get more impressions immediately. I add to the list of notes… It usually takes me a few days to a week to get someone on my schedule, so by the time we speak, I’ve been receiving bits of information for them, here and there.

It tends to escalate the morning I am scheduled to speak with that client. About thirty minutes before the call is set to begin, I will look at their chart and do a little more intentional automatic writing – again, jotting down items in a list format, more than paragraphs. I always have grand intentions of “structuring” the conversation based on my notes, but what usually happens is the automatic writing makes me feel like I’m already talking to the person so I just jump on the phone with them and keep it going, live.

I will realize at some point I haven’t looked at the notes, so I’ll scan them and realize it all came out in the conversation, in its own circular, organic way. I follow up with an email of my original notes and lists, their astrological forecast, and I will record the session as an MP3 via Skype if requested beforehand.

GET A READING

How do you typically prepare for a reading?

It probably looks more like the way a writer prepares to work. Or really, the way anyone prepares to sit down at their desk in the morning… I don’t have any formal ritual. I do try to make it the first thing I focus on in the morning, so I wake up thinking about the client and keep them front and center in my consciousness until the call is complete. The one sort of spelly thing I do is say “Make me a vessel” while the phone is ringing.

What’s the craziest psychic experience you’ve ever had?

The highlights usually come in the form of client feedback. Like, if I had only written it down, I might look at the piece of information and think “Well, that’s random and useless.” But often those bits are the ones the clients have the strongest reaction to. When they tell me the significance, I’m often blown away.

I do experience a “HOW did I know that?!” moment. I don’t “feel” particularly psychic. I’ve just learned from the feedback how to get out of my own way and let the info come through. And honestly, I might not know it’s impressive or a psychic “hit” without the client’s telling me. One example that stands out from early in my career: I retrieved the name of a guide for a client – it was a complicated, unusual Italian sounding surname. I requested she receive a sign of confirmation about it (as I always do) but deep down I thought, “There’s no way her Starbucks barista is going to be wearing that as a name tag.” She emailed me within thirty minutes of the call and said she’d just walked downstairs to a cafe, bought the paper, and sat down with her coffee to read it, and there was a story on the front page about someone with that name (completely unrelated person and context to her guide) but the spelling was identical. (WHAT?! Damn…)

I’ve had much more “crazy haunting” kinds of experiences, but that story was one that made me realize I can retrieve psychic information in a way I can’t control or be objective about. From that point on, I just did it and didn’t question it so much. And that’s what I teach others how to do in my Automatic Intuition course.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is new to giving psychic readings?

You will never “get really psychic” by going into your Tower, reading lots of books, praying hard, meditating intensely, feeling your powers turning on and then go out into the world and say “Ta-dah! I’m psychic! Let me read for you.” And you will never necessarily “know” when the information you receive is accurate; the only way you’ll know how your abilities work and how accurate they are is from feedback outside your own head. Your clients have that information.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is attempting to further develop their intuition?

Get outside yourself and use your intuition in service to other people. Something happens when the intention is selfless: there are additional resources there for you. Energy for your abilities rises up to match your intentions. The confidence, clarity, and discernment you need to do readings is waiting for you on the other side of a reading. Your clients have not only the feedback but messages for you about the direction in which to take your practice.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is thinking about getting their first psychic reading?

Your reticence, fears, or skepticism can affect the quality of the information in the reading. Lower your expectations, while simultaneously remaining open, hopeful, and trusting. Don’t withhold, either energetically or literally. If you have something specific you want the answer to, be specific when asking your question. Give your intuitive what they need to help you.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received from spirit?

You are already everything you’ve ever wanted to become. You fulfill your life purpose with every breath you take.

My first reaction to the reading was WOW. Your words captured a theme woven into my life right now. The reading has emboldened me to take back my power and inspired me to research some books, get back to meditating and provided a focus.
