IMSS Is Traveling…

Oct 31, 2016 | Discernment, Mind

Unfortunately this will probably be my last post for a couple of weeks. I’m headed off to New York this past Friday morning for a week and then I’m off to Lisbon, Portugal for a week after that. It’s mostly work stuff, but there will be a bit of leisure mixed in here and there! I’ve been so busy preparing for this trip that I didn’t have much time to write at all, much less write enough to post while I’m gone, so I’m simply going to tell you to check back the third week of November when I return for new material 🙂

In the meantime, with election day looming, I would like to take some time today to point you to three of my past posts. Those of you who are in my Facebook group have probably already seen them, as I’ve been posting them sporadically over the last couple of months.

I’ll be out of the country on election day. I’m actually looking forward to unplugging a bit, for the most part (even though I am attending two tech conferences) just to avoid the general political nastiness that seems to be all over the place these days. Fearmongering is at epic levels, particularly on the internet.

The posts that I want to share are election relevant. The first is about the media and how to discern the things that you read on the internet. The second is about how to maintain self-awareness in the face of your own political bias. The third is not one of my posts, but rather an intriguing article explaining how those two things I just mentioned in both of those post converge on Facebook and people are using it – and you – to profit from it.

I hope all of my readers take a long, hard read of these things and use the tools I provide you with to evaluate whether or not you’ve fall for, and/or contributed to the situation we find ourselves in here in America today. Self awareness is a great thing.

Post #1:Discerning The Internet: Misinformation, Media Bias, Conspiracies, and Fake Quotes

Post #2: The Spiritual Person’s Guide to Politics As Usual

Post #3: Inside Facebook’s (Totally Insane, Unintentionally Gigantic, Hyperpartisan) Political-Media Machine

In case all hell breaks loose on election day, I’ll still be safe in Lisbon, but I’ll cross my fingers for you back here in the states. 😉

My first reaction to the reading was WOW. Your words captured a theme woven into my life right now. The reading has emboldened me to take back my power and inspired me to research some books, get back to meditating and provided a focus.
